Jet Blue Has Issues with Weather

When the freak October snowstorm hit the northeast JetBlue had five flights diverted to Hartford and there are stories that the planes were on the tarmac longer than three hours. Ironically the regulation that allows for no more than a three hour wait on a tarmac was imposed on all carriers after a similar incident involving JetBlue back in 2007.

They have met with Department of Transportation officials, but no final word has come down on whether they will pay the potentially millions of dollars worth of fines. There may be some mitigating circumstances in their favor related to the storm and the closing of another airport nearby, but time will tell.

The freak storm may have been partly to blame but that storm was anticipated. The coming winter months can again be a source of delays and frustrating travel for many customers.

The operators of smaller airports must also be ready to handle whatever the weather brings this winter and part of their equipment arsenal could be a Lindbergh aircraft tug.

These tugs can move up to 35,000 lbs. and their maneuverability and ergonomic design make them a great tool in the quick movement of any aircraft stranded on the tarmac.

Once the passengers deplane the plane can be moved without even turning the engines on. This aircraft tug smoothly moves the plane back into the hangar if need be and any deicing chores can be accomplished before sending the plane or corporate jet back out there an await clearance.

Lindbergh also has tugs that can also move a helicopter which require only one member of the crew for safely accomplishing the job. These efficient tugs save a great deal of time and fuel during delays that can be caused by unpredictable weather. This fact can make the Lindbergh aircraft tug is a sure bet to rank right next to snow removal equipment as a real money saver for the fixed base operator.
