Motorized Carts

Applications for Motorized Carts

The CartCaddy™ Motorized Cart Mover is designed to work with carts and equipment that move in a straight line and are attached to a steering system (i.e. on rails). The CartCaddy™ Motorized Cart Mover provides directional force while the facility's steering mechanism maintains the route of the cart. The unit has been extremely successful with assembly line applications and applications which involve moving a cart in and out of an oven or paint booth. The CartCaddy™ is also successful in applications involving equipment that are assembled with wheels on them (i.e. buses, motor homes, tractors and carts).

These types of equipment often have large pneumatic tires and are relatively easy to push. As a rule of thumb, the larger the wheel the less rolling resistance and thus, the easier the equipment is to push. The exception application the CartCaddy™ Motorized Cart Mover is used for is the wagon wheel cart or the farm cart. These carts have a tongue on the front, that when turned, the front axle turns (known as the wagon wheel), or the front two wheels turn independently (known as the farm cart). This application can easily be moved using the Cart Caddy with a pintle hitch, ball hitch, or a pin.

Benefits of Motorized Carts

The Cart Caddy™ Motorized Cart Mover is ergonomically designed to prevent the strains and pains often associated with manually pushing and pulling heavy carts and equipment. The use of the CartCaddy™ Motorized Cart Puller minimizes the risk of injury, which in turn reduces the overall number of workman's compensation and insurance claims. According to OSHA's recently released ergonomics standard proposal, work related musculoskeletal disorders, such as tendonitis and low back pain, account for $20 billion in workers compensation costs each year and 34% of all lost workday injuries.

Fork trucks, walkies and riding tugs are often utilized to maneuver carts and equipment short distances. These methods require considerably more storage space and are significantly more costly than the CartCaddy™ Equipment Tug. For example, the average cost of a CartCaddy™ Electric Tug is about 1/5 the cost of the traditional trucks, walkies and tugs. Incorporating the Cart Caddy™ to create motorized carts allows the traditional trucks, walkies and tugs to be utilized for their intended purposes. The CartCaddy™ Motorized Tug is less bulky than the traditional equipment carts, which results in fewer accidents and lower maintenance costs. The easy maneuverability of the product reduces damage to surrounding parts and equipment.
